    Postpartum Fitness Fridays: Week 4

    Workouts I did

    Tuesday: PureBarre Empower

    Wednesday: Y6 Power Flow

I had so much fun with this class. The music was upbeat and current. The yogi was making jokes the entire time. I did poses I’ve never even heard of!

    Friday: Signature50

Total workouts this week: 3 classes

Goal for next week: 4 classes

    Pelvic Floor & Core Check-In

I’m feeling really strong this week. I know I still need to work on the actual core engagement while working out, but (and I know I keep saying this) I can really tell that I’m getting stronger. I was able to lower my leg all the way to the floor during deadbugs this week.

    Real Moment from this Week

We moved our baby out of our room, because he wasn’t sleeping through the night. Wednesday night I was having trouble sleeping. I still wasn’t asleep by 1am. Then I started freaking out since our baby was in another room. I ended up sleeping on the nugget in his room until he woke up around 3am. I’m convinced he woke up because he smelled me. Long story short. I saw every hour of the clock that night and only had solid sleep between 5-8:30am…so I cancelled my 6am Classic class on Thursday morning.

    Small Win

I did a shoulder stand in Power Flow class this week! I didn’t even know that was a thing. I also did a back bend (wheel pose) which I haven’t done since high school!!

What I’m Working on next week

Figuring out what a good schedule is. For all of us. Should I work out early in the morning and wake the boys up? Should I stick with working out after my husband gets off work?

Thanks for following along, see you next Friday!

What’s the last thing you had to cancel because you were so sleep deprived?

Baby & Toddler Christmas Gifts 2025: What We’re Putting Under the Tree This Year

Christmas feels extra special this year. My toddler is talking about “Santy Claus” and running around admiring every decoration he sees. My baby is mesmerized by the lights and crawling through the entire house. (Side note: He’s already pulling up and pushing chairs around. We might have another walker by the end of the year!!)

Now that our family has started asking for gift ideas, I figured it was time to put together a list of gifts I know my boys will love and enjoy. Today I’m sharing what we’re getting for my baby and toddler for Christmas 2025, in case you’re looking for inspiration for your own little guys in your life.

We love choosing one special gift for the boys each Christmas, and this year we’re going with a Toniebox!

If you’re looking for the best shared gifts for siblings or screen-free toddler gifts for Christmas 2025, a Toniebox is such a cozy, practical option that both my boys will enjoy for years.

    Baby

    100 First Words LeapFrog

    • Why I chose it: We’re getting my toddler a leap frog to help him with early reading, so I thought it would be fun for my baby to get something similar. He already loves similar books like his nursery rhyme story book and his elmo book, so I know he enjoys anything that talks, sings, or lights up.

Farm Animals Touch and Feel Book

      • Why I chose it: My baby loves the touch and feel books that we already have and he loves a foldable barn with animals. This is a smaller book that I’m picturing as our diaper bag book for restaurants.

        Mickey Mouse Tonie

        • Why I chose it: We went to Disney recently and our baby really enjoyed it. Plus, you can’t go wrong with Mickey Mouse right??

Baby Einstein Push & Pop Book

          • Why I chose it: I figured my baby would like this one when I ordered it, but I received confirmation during library story time when he couldn’t stop popping the button on a pop-it toy so looking forward to seeing him play with this one.

          Dinosaur Matching 2 Piece Set

          • Why I chose it: This one is more for me than for the boys. I love giving matching sets at Christmas. They look so cute and cozy in their little sweat outfits, and they are a staple in our house. These are what I ordered, and they work but I will say they’re thinner than I anticipated. These will be great lounging around the house outfits.

          Dinosaur Onesies & Pants

          • Why I chose it: Again, this one is for me. No ones ever really excited to get clothes, but I’m always excited to give them. Especially when they’re cute!

            Toddler

            LeapFrog Laptop

            • Why I chose it: He is always trying to play with our laptops and says he is “working” so I bet he will really enjoy having his own computer.

            Frozen Little Golden Book

            • Why I chose it: He specifically asked for this because a picture of the Frozen book cover is on the back of another one of his Little Golden Books. Anna, Elsa, and Olaf are his current obsession. I know for a fact he will love getting this book for Christmas
            • I don’t have a picture of this one because we ended up just giving him this book since he was so excited for it. It is already well-loved and read at least once a day!

            Elsa Tonie

            • Why I chose it: The Elsa Tonie tells the full Frozen story and since he asks to watch the movie every day, I’m hoping this will help us gently reduce screen time while still giving him something he loves.

            Olaf Tonie

            • Why I chose it: He talks about Olaf just as much as he talks about Elsa, so I know he’ll love the figurine. The story is Olaf’s Frozen Adventure which hasn’t held his attention to watch, but I bet he’ll be more inclined to listen to it.

            Moana Tonie

            • Why I chose it: Moana is quickly becoming another favorite princess. He’s constantly asking us to sing “How Far I’ll Go” and “You’re Welcome.”

            I Spy Christmas

            Jack Skellington Tonie

            • Why I chose it: If you know my toddler, this one was a no brainer. He’s absolutely obsessed with “Nightmare” and if “This is Halloween” just played on repeat constantly, he would be ecstatic.

            2 Piece Set

            • Why I chose it: I saw these matching outfits and just couldn’t resist. Dinosaurs are kinda our thing, if you can’t tell.

I hope this gift guide gave you helpful ideas as you plan for Christmas 2025 with your own baby or toddler!

P.S. I decided to make a photo album with all of our photos from Disney as a combined gift as well. My boys love looking at photos on my phone so I’m hoping they’ll enjoy their very own album.

            1. Postpartum Fitness Friday: Week 4

              How I’m Feeling This Week

I can tell I’m stronger and I’m noticing changes in my body. I can see the definition forming.

              Workouts I did

              Sunday: [solidcore] Signature50

6am class!! I went to a 6am class with my friend and was able to get a workout in before we drove 1.5 hours back to our hometown for a baby shower.

              Monday: PureBarre Classic

Signed up for a challenge. 12 classes this month. 2 of each class + 4 of my choice. 12 classes total

              Wednesday: PureBarre Empower

Now THIS is a workout. Classic is a workout, but Empower is a whole other beast. I was so sore on Thursday and Friday.

              Friday: Y6 Restore

This candlelight restore class was exactly what I needed. An hour of calm stretching and meditation.

Total workouts this week: 4 classes

Goal for next week: 4 classes

              Pelvic Floor & Core Check-In

I really need to work on engaging my core for all the exercises. I still don’t know if I’m doing it correctly. Some times it feels great and other times I feel like I’m coning which is a big no-no. I don’t want to irritate my diastasis recti. Otherwise I’m feeling pretty good. During step-ups in the Empower class I could tell my right side hip flexor was struggling so I’m hoping continuing to strengthen will help it catch up.

The restore yoga class felt great during the workout, but I must’ve overstretched my right hip. On Sunday morning, I woke up and was limping because my left outer hip was sore and felt like it was giving out. I’ve been told my multiple PTs that I am very flexible and I need to be careful when stretching. Clearly I didn’t listen.

              Real Moment from this Week

I was up by 5:30am on a Sunday morning. I had a workout completed before the sun even came up!

              Small Win

This is going to make me sound crazy…I was running late to yoga. I always check in on my phone as I’m walking in the door. As I’m rushing to the lockers, the woman at the front desk kinda shouts for my name. I tell her, and she says, “Oh it looks like you checked in on your phone. I know you missed check-in last time so I wanted to make sure.” Uhhh, I’ve never seen this lady before, and I know I check-in on my phone every single time. It’s apart of my ritual as I’m walking in. Instead of arguing with her, I just let the comment in one ear and out the other. I’m working on my patience, and this was a big win for me. I’m choosing my battles and this one wasn’t worth the fight.

What I’m Working on next week

Not overdoing it. I’m excited to workout, and I fear I might be overdoing it a little. I definitely overstretched my muscles in yoga. I need to remember that I’m still healing from birth. I don’t want to hurt myself. I want to be stronger.

Thanks for following along, see you next Friday!

What other hobbies do you have? I’ve recently started crocheting and I love it!

            2. Our Christmas 2025 Decorating Tour: The Joys(and laughs) of Decorating

Usually I’m bursting with excitement to decorate for Christmas. I remember one year I made Jake decorate Halloween night because we didn’t get any trick or treaters. This year though? I’m not really feeling the Christmas spirit.

I don’t know why. Maybe it’s because I want to deep clean the whole house before the Christmas clutter? Maybe it’s because last year my toddler kept taking the ornaments off the tree and throwing them? Whether the cluttered house or toddler tantrums, I just wasn’t in the mood to decorate this year.

Well, I finally mustered up the energy to decorate, and I’m glad I did. I compromised with myself. I didn’t decorate as much as I usually do, but I did just enough to have the Christmas spirit. Here is our 2025 Christmas Home Tour!

              Outdoor

The beginning of our 2025 Christmas Decorating Journey started on an uncharacteristically warm November day. We woke up and the high was mid-60s. Jake got home from a morning workout and was bustling to hang the lights outside. I, being the Scrooge I was this year, came up with every excuse possible not to hang those lights. I literally decluttered our 2 spare bedrooms just to procrastinate.

Our very advanced method of hot gluing lights to our bricks.

Finally, around 3pm, we went outside to start on the lights. But wait? Did I immediately help hang them? Absolutely not. I found the time to clean up our back patio and put away all the cushions and toys in the garage…

After that unnecessary task, I finally started helping with the lights. About an hour later, Jake was running the extension cord for our outdoor wreath that connects to the first strand of lights…and realized we strung the lights backwards. The male end was where the female end should be…

After taking down every strand except 2, we lost all motivation and just stopped. We looked like the Beverly HIllbillies for exactly a week. The very next Saturday, Jake hung the rest of lights and our wreath above the garage. We opted out of wrapping our columns this year, but I’m loving the colors.

              Indoor

After seeing Jake was hanging the lights during nap time, I decided to start on the indoor decorations, especially because he was getting in the attic for the outdoor wreath so might as well hang up and put out the decorations that lived up there.

This is my favorite decoration this year. The cabinets look like presents, and it was super quick and easy to do.

The first thing I did was try something new! My mom decorated her kitchen cabinets with ribbon this year, and I absolutely loved it so she gave me her leftover ribbon and I did it to ours! I think it looks so cute, and Jake has told me 3 different times that they look really good. It was a great start to the decorating process.

After the cabinets, I had the motivation to hang our indoor wreath, set up our nutcracker and skinny tree, and our wooden nativity scene. By this time, the boys woke up, Jake was done outside, and we needed to get some fresh air so to the park we went!

The next day I finished everything else. I didn’t decorate nearly as much this year. I know it’s because I don’t feel like fighting the boys on playing with the decorations.

Here’s a photo dump of our indoor decorations, including our half decorated tree because my toddler was literally throwing ornaments as we were decorating and my baby was grabbing every ornament he could reach.

It’s nice and cozy in our house, so I’m glad I finally decorated. There’s nothing like curling up on the couch with the fireplace and Christmas lights on.

What’s your favorite part of the holiday season?

              Mine is always the lights.

            3. Postpartum Fitness Fridays: Week 3

              How I’m Feeling This Week

              Sleep deprived and worn thin.

              Workouts I did

              Monday: [ solidcore ] signature50

              Wednesday: [ solidcore ] signature50

Total workouts this week: 2 classes

Goal for next week: 3 classes

              Pelvic Floor & Core Check-In

I feel my core getting stronger with each class. Little things like being able to sit up from laying down while holding my baby are big wins.

              Real Moment from this Week

My baby was coughing all Thursday night. I think I had a total of 3 hours of sleep. I ended up canceling my yoga class I had scheduled for Friday evening. I just didn’t have the energy to even think about going.

              Small Win

I scheduled a 6am class for next week to workout with a friend. Hopefully next week my small win is attending the class!

What I’m Working on next week

I’m going to work on drinking more water. I was so thirsty after my workout on Wednesday. I was also craving salt, so I might look into getting some electrolyte powder.

Thanks for following along, see you next Friday!

What time do you usually like to workout?

I’ve been scheduling my workouts after 4pm when Jake is off work, but I’m toying with the idea of working out before he starts work. I’m not much of a morning person, so we’ll see!

            4. Holiday Decoration Storage

              Holiday Decoration Storage

By the end of the Christmas season, I am ready to just throw all the decorations in bins and leave it as a problem for future me. I haven’t gotten any of the decorations out yet so I figured it might be fun to see just how inconsiderate past me was to future me.

There was a time when I wrapped all of our Christmas lights around coat hangers so they wouldn’t tangle. There was a time I had just 1 bin of decorations so I knew everything was together.

It’s been years since then. I’ve accumulated a ton of decorations, whether through buying them myself or getting them second hand from my mother in law. So the organization isn’t great, but it’s working…enough.

Here’s how we stored our decorations from the 2024 Holiday season!

              Outdoor Decorations

We have a bin for all of our outdoor lights which just had everything thrown in Willy-Nilly. We have these gorgeous vintage looking multi colored bulb lights that luckily aren’t terrible to untangle. We also have smaller white stranded lights for our white columns and some pretty sad looking garland that I replaced the white lights with last year because the white stranded lights aren’t quite the right colors.

              Look at this chaos…

We also have our cute candy cane path lights, and we always replace our garage lights for the season. The bulbs change from white, to green, to red.

              Indoor Decorations

The indoor decorations are where I’ve lost my marbles.

I have them organized by tree, kinda. We have a taller 8.5ft tree for downstairs that my mother in law traded us for one of our 7.5ft trees. (shout out to her!) So I keep most of the ornaments and lights in a bin along with the tree skirt and angel. I have a bag that goes with the tree that has the wooden beads, ribbon, and some extra ornaments.

You can see the shelf these usually live right behind it. Off to the side. Out of sight. Out of mind.

The next bin is for our other tree. This one has a Grinch theme so it has all the ornaments, ribbon, and tree skirt as well.

I have a little bin full of more sentimental ornaments from my and Jake’s childhood.

Then we have a random assortment of stuff in our attic (which we were told was not meant for storage but come on. What’s an attic for if not for seasonal storage??)

Up there we have our 3ft nutcracker, our 7.5ft tree, a nativity sign, and some other random things that we ran out of space for in the bins.

It’s not pretty. It’s not aesthetic. It’s random bins we bought when we first moved into our house…but it works! Everything is here and we survived getting it all back out.

Thanks for stopping by! If you want to keep the cozy vibes coming, subscribe and I’ll send new posts your way each week.

            5. Postpartum Fitness Friday: Week 2

              How I’m Feeling This Week

I’m feeling pretty tired this week, especially on Friday. I don’t know if it’s my workouts catching up to me or just the long travel day on Thursday, but I can’t seem to wake up.

              Workouts I did

              Sunday: YogaSix Signature Hot

Hot means HOT. Next time I’ll be wearing shorts, not leggings.

              Monday: Pure Barre Align

This was different from the Classic class. It still felt like a workout but even more stretching. I booked 2 more classes this week already!

              Tuesday: [ solidcore ] Signature50

I struggled in the obliques section again, but overall it was a great workout.

              Thursday: Pure Barre Align

Getting a good workout in before 3 hours in the car was clutch.

              Saturday: YogaSix Slow Flow

Total workouts this week: 5 classes

Goal for next week: 4 classes

              Pelvic Floor & Core Check-In

Pure Barre really emphasizes my hip weakness. There are a lot of leg lifts, and like I mentioned last week, my right hip is a lot weaker than my left. I feel like I have to heave my leg up to do the lift. Also it clicks a lot with most of the movements. I felt a little pubic bone pain during the heavy squats at my Tuesday solidcore class, but nothing too bad.

              Real Moment from this Week

With the chaos of it being Thanksgiving morning, I forgot to check-in on our insurance app and received a nasty email stating I would have to pay a late fee or wait until next month to book another class. Luckily I was able to chat with the AI bot and it waived the fee because I explained I wasn’t a no show. I had proof from Pure Barre I was there. My brain was fried by the time I made it to Thanksgiving and the day was so busy. Luckily they waived it and gave me a “second chance” since it was the first time. I definitely won’t be forgetting to check in again!! I really wish Wellhub used different verbiage. There’s no way for them to know I guess, but I wasn’t a no show! I was a missed check in.

Now I know what happens if I miss the check in with Wellhub step. Now I know it’s not connected to the gyms in any way. Totally my fault and I’m lucky they’re understanding.

I’m really struggling at the end of this week! I drove all the way to my yoga class and realized I forgot my mat. I had to pay a $3 mat rental fee.

              Small Win

I can tell my core is stronger. We did straight leg sit-ups in Align and I was able to do them very controlled. No momentum whatsoever!

After forgetting  Wellhub check in on Thursday, and forgetting my yoga mat on Saturday morning, my anxiety really kicked in. I was standing in the yoga six lobby seriously contemplating just going home because I was so discouraged. I ended up completing the class and even signing up for a 12 classes in 3 months challenge. I’m proud of myself for not letting my anxiety ruin my day and even challenging myself after the fact.

What I’m Working on next week

Better recovery. I might’ve overdid it a little this week, but I also didn’t prioritize eating because the class times were weird and I know I didn’t drink enough water.

Thanks for following along, see you next Friday!

What was your small win today?

            6. Our Christmas Movie List for 2025

Every single December, I blink and suddenly we’re at New Years Eve.

So this year, I’m making a list ahead of time because Christmas movies are truly a core memory builder for me. They’re nostalgic, cozy, familiar, heartwarming, funny… all the things that make this season feel magical. And I didn’t want to forget any of them in the hustle and bustle of Christmas with little kids.

I’m sharing our list, the movies we personally prioritized, so if you want to follow along or build from ours, you can!

Make a list, check it twice, and soak up the season with your family too.

Our 2025 Must Watch Christmas Movies

              1. The Grinch(all 3… but Jim Carrey is my favorite forever)

While Jim Carrey’s will always be the elite version for me, the original animated Grinch is a classic must watch, and the newer animated one with Benedict Cumberbatch has quickly become my toddlers favorite. All three are staples in our house.

              2. Elf

Elf is my husband’s favorite and we watch it multiple times throughout the season. We quote this movie YEAR. ROUND. It just never stops being funny.

              3. Deck the Halls

Another one of my husband’s favorites. When we hang lights, he always mentions this movie.

              4. Miracle on 34th Street

              Classic, timeless, feels like Christmas.

              5. Home Alone 1 & 2

              Yes BOTH. 1 and 2 are non-negotiable back-to-back musts.

              6. Christmas Vacation

Nothing like Clark Griswold plugging in his lights and nothing turning on to kick off Christmas.

              7. A Christmas Story

I feel like it’s impossible to miss this because it literally plays on repeat on TV every Christmas Day… and it still never gets old.

              8. Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer

This is also a classic. I remember when it was on tv my parents would yell for me to join them and watch it. The claymation is just the definition of nostalgia.

              9. Charlie Brown Christmas

I watched this every year growing up and now I’m continuing the tradition with my babies. My Mama Nise loves Charlie Brown, so I think of her every single time we turn it on.

              10. A Christmas Carol

              Bah humbug.

And of course… sprinkle in Hallmark Christmas movies throughout the month.

Yes, they all have the same story. Yes, you always know exactly how they’ll end. That’s the charm for me.

My favorite recent one: Three Wise Men and a Baby.

I’ll be checking this list off all season long so I don’t accidentally look up and realize December is over. Save this, share this, screenshot it, print it… whatever helps you remember to slow down and actually enjoy the cozy nights, the hot chocolate, the twinkle lights, and the movies that make Christmas feel like Christmas.

What movies would you add to your list this year?

Thanks for stopping by! If you want to keep the cozy vibes coming, subscribe and I’ll send new posts your way each week.

I had to edit to add my toddler’s honorable mentions:

              1. Choo Choo Train (The Polar Express)
              2. This is Halloween (Nightmare Before Christmas)
              3. Frozen
            7. Postpartum Fitness Fridays: I’m Back, Baby!

              Week 1

It’s the end of my first week back and I am feeling super motivated! My body is sore but in the best way.

              How I’m Feeling This Week

I had the bright idea to get a flu and covid vaccine on Monday night after my first Solidcore class. I felt like literal death all day Tuesday. The mix of muscle soreness, chills, and body aches almost did me in.

Luckily the chills and body aches faded by Wednesday morning. Barre was perfect timing because you stretch after each section so I had the benefit of working out and stretching my sore muscles.

I ended my week with a Signature50 (Solidcore) class that reiterated what I already knew: my core is verrryyyy weak. I look forward to the changes to come. One measure I’ll mentally be calculating is how many breaks I need during class! (This class required a lot.)

              Workouts I did

              Monday: Solidcore Starter50

I felt really good during and after this class. I was able to keep up and remembered all the cues. Obliques were the worst part! I originally planned on doing more Starter50s, but I decided to go ahead with Signature50!

              Wednesday: Pure Barre Classic

This was so much fun! It was definitely a workout but it felt more like dancing.

              Friday: Solidcore Signature50 muscle focus-hamstrings & back

My first full on Solidcore class was so fun. It was difficult but I had a blast. I really like the coach. (She was my coach for Starter50 as well.) I had to take A LOT of breaks during the core sections and the bungee kickbacks. My core is non existent right now and by the time we got to bungee kickbacks, my hamstrings were DONE.

Total workouts this week: 3 classes

Goal for next week: 4 classes

              Pelvic Floor & Core Check-In

During the leg raises at the barre class I really felt the shearing sensation on my pelvic bone. I remember this being a problem after my first pregnancy. Isolated leg exercises seem to really make it flare up. The modification I made was just to not lift my leg quite so high and I had more of a bend in my knee.

I really notice my right hip is very weak. I could feel my right knee compensating during lunges.

              Real Moment from this Week

My first day back and neither of the boys took their naps. I spent an hour before class getting them down, and neither one of them stayed asleep!

              Small Win

During the Starter50 class, the coach said “Take a look at Destiny if you want to see the tempo you should be going” and I felt like a million bucks.

What I’m Working on next week

Better meal planning and more filling meals but not heavy. I had homemade Alfredo pasta on Monday and I thought I was going to be sick.

Thanks for following along, see you next Friday!

            8. No-Fuss Linen Closet Organization (Using What You Already Have)

I woke up ready to be productive and found myself staring at a linen closet that had been neglected since we moved in. It was chaotic, hard to navigate, and honestly, a little stressful every time I needed something. With a busy week ahead, I decided it was finally time to tackle it and I didn’t need any fancy organizers or complicated systems. Just some bins, baskets, and a little bit of elbow grease.

I started by emptying everything out of the closet and laying it on our bathroom counter. The first thing I grabbed was a clear acrylic container holding some of my feminine products. I opened the boxes, consolidated everything that would fit into the container, and placed the leftover items in a fabric cube that had been holding socks but wasn’t in use anymore. That cube is now officially our “restock items” bin.

Next up: medicines. I grabbed another fabric cube and organized our children’s medicine, our own medications, and bandaids into a “first aid” bin. Then it was time for hair products and tools. A teal basket and an old feminine pads box had been holding a jumble of products. I moved all the hot tools into another fabric cube and neatly arranged the hair products and accessories back into the teal basket.

Finally, I tackled expired makeup and nail products. Everything I no longer use was discarded, and the rest found a home in an acrylic organizer that had been sitting unused in the closet for years.

It’s not the prettiest or most aesthetic, but it works and that’s all that matters!

Now, opening our linen closet is no longer overwhelming. Everyone knows where everything is, and even if you don’t, a quick peek in a bin or basket is all it takes. The best part? You don’t need fancy organizers, just corralling like items in a bin is a huge improvement over letting everything sit freely on wire shelving.

It’s such a satisfying feeling to see a once chaotic space finally neat and functional. Sometimes, all it takes is a little bit of time, some bins, and the willingness to toss what’s no longer serving you.
